Montgomery Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Waverly Central apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Drew Yarbrough, who scored 18 points. Malik Peterson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and three steals.
Montgomery Central struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Montgomery Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Waverly Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-18.
Montgomery Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-45 win vs. Fort Campbell on the 9th. Waverly Central has also already played their next match, a 78-72 win against Big Sandy on the 8th.
