It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Paxton Tigers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 40-39 photo finish over Sandhills Valley. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Paxton.
Josh Eakins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last four times he's played.
Several Mavericks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Braden Powell, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Cooper Layher was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Paxton pushed their record up to 12-7 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Sandhills Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paxton will take on the Panthers at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hershey is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Sandhills Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against the Haymakers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
