Hillsboro is 8-2 against DeSoto since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hillsboro Hawks will look to defend their home court against the DeSoto Dragons at 7:00 p.m. Hillsboro knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully DeSoto likes a good challenge.
It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Hillsboro ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Notre Dame out 71-68. Given Hillsboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Notre Dame is ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, DeSoto pushed their score all the way to 59 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The game between them and Jefferson wasn't particularly close, with DeSoto falling 75-59.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Aidyn Mitchell, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Mcclinton, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
Hillsboro is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for DeSoto, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-14.
Hillsboro beat DeSoto 60-49 when the teams last played back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Mitchell, who scored 21 points.
