Fike is 8-2 against Southern Nash since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 6:30 p.m. on December 27th. Fike is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Last Wednesday, Fike had just enough and edged SouthWest Edgecombe out 46-44.
Fike's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Connie Pleasants, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Pleasants scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalia Daniels, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Southern Nash earned a 41-28 win over Roanoke Rapids last Friday. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Southern Nash has managed all season.
Fike's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Southern Nash, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5.
Fike was able to grind out a solid victory over Southern Nash when the teams last played back in November of 2022, winning 58-49. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Southern Nash's Jermia Walker, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for Fike to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
