The Columbus Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were the victim of a rough 62-42 loss at the hands of Dougherty. Columbus has struggled against the Trojans recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Columbus still got an impressive performance from Alyna Gilbert, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Gilbert hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Alexus Hammond, who scored 12 points.
Jatiana Chambers continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dougherty, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 assists. Chambers hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaliya Burns, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Columbus has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Dougherty, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus will take on the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Thomasville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Saturday. As for Dougherty, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Golden Tornadoes at 6:00 p.m. Monroe is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
