Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Alexavier Dorval-Ferris and Jacob Mekdeci Lead Bishop Mclaughlin Catholic to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Indian Rocks Christian, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the All Saints' Academy Saints by a score of 71-61. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 48-35 back in December of 2024.

Bishop McLaughlin Catholic was led to victory by Jacob Mekdeci and Alexavier Dorval-Ferris. Mekdeci went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and three steals, while Dorval-Ferris dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance gave Mekdeci a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Conor Whalen, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

With that strong performance, Watson is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jafar Curry JR, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points.

Bishop McLaughlin Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for All Saints' Academy, they moved to 5-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Bishop McLaughlin Catholic has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Spring Hill Christian Academy on the 27th. As for All Saints' Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 72-47 defeat against Bridge to Independence on the 28th.
