At the plate, Juan Diego Catholic let Oaklee Thomas and Mattie Montoya run wild. Thomas went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Montoya went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave Thomas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Sedillo, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and one triple.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Juan Diego Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Judge Memorial Catholic hadn't done well against American Leadership Academy recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 31-21 win. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Rylie Vigil was incredible, going 5-for-7 with one home run, five stolen bases, and 12 RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Bella Haile was another key player, getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and two RBI.
Juan Diego Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Judge Memorial Catholic, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Juan Diego Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .427. However, it's not like Judge Memorial Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .430. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
