The Western Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 55-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eastern. Western lost against Eastern in their previous head to head last Friday, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 44-30 score last time.
Western's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubryonna Durrah, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 27 rebounds. Those 27 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Leslie Bright, who scored 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Western were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Western bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Eastern, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6.
Western will take on Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Western in Kentucky (Valley is ranked 122nd, while Western is ranked 263rd). As for Eastern, they will head out on the road to face off against Oldham County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
