The Savannah Savages will head out on the road to face off against the Chillicothe Hornets at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Savannah escaped with a win against Bishop LeBlond by the margin of a single free throw, 49-48. The victory was all the more spectacular given Savannah's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while Bishop LeBlond is ranked 145th).
Meanwhile, Chillicothe was able to grind out a solid victory over Kauffman on Tuesday, taking the game 54-41. The win made it back-to-back wins for Chillicothe.
Chillicothe found their leader in underclassman Jaishon White, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points White has scored all season. Another player making a difference was James Mathew, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Savannah's win bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Chillicothe, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Savannah came up short against Chillicothe in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 51-39. Can Savannah avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
