The Fike Demons waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They took down Hunt 54-35. Given Fike's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Hunt is ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fike's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jewel Brewington led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five assists. Emory Skinner was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Hunt's loss came despite strong showings from Aiyana Harrison and Tanyha Anthony. Harrison scored nine points along with five rebounds, while Anthony scored five points.
Fike's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Hunt, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Fike will head out on the road to face off against West Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hunt, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against C.B. Aycock at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully C.B. Aycock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
