The Rocky Ford Meloneers strolled past the Walsenburg Panthers with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 60-43 for which the team can thank Vazquez-Gallegos, who dropped a triple-double with 16 points, 11 boards, and 11 assists. Those 11 assists gave him a new career-high.
The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Vazquez-Gallegos, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Rocky Ford is 3-1 when Vazquez-Gallegos posts eight or more boards, but 1-18 otherwise.
Despite the loss, Walsenburg saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Landon Eccher almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-19. As for Walsenburg, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-20.
