Alexandria has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Holy Savior Menard Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Holy Savior Menard took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Alexandria, who comes in off a win.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Alexandria ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They managed a 73-69 victory over Union Grove. The victory was just what Alexandria needed coming off of a 75-50 loss in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alexandria to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordyn Johnson, who scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Alexandria's points. Markel Gaines was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Holy Savior Menard, who are still winless after their fifth game. They took a hard 54-39 fall against Pitkin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Holy Savior Menard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Pitkin is ranked 75th).
Alexandria now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Holy Savior Menard, they have yet to win a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 0-5 record.
Alexandria strolled past Holy Savior Menard when the teams last played back in December of 2021 by a score of 45-29. Does Alexandria have another victory up their sleeve, or will Holy Savior Menard turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
