It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Lake Mead Academy Eagles had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They breezed by Incline at home to the tune of 58-0. Considering Lake Mead Academy has won nine games by more than 26 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Lake Mead Academy found their leader in underclassman Jerry Meyer iii, who threw for 238 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 95% of his passes. Meyer iii is absolutely dominating the passing touchdown category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Antonio Spann, who picked up 94 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Lake Mead Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Gavin Cummins was especially locked on to Incline's QB and sacked him twice.
The victory (which was Lake Mead Academy's eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-7 White Pine and 1-7 White Pine (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39% over those games). As for Incline, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.
Lake Mead Academy will take on Pershing County at 9:00 a.m. on November 21st. Pershing County will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak. Incline does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
