The Pacifica Mariners will square off against the Cypress Centurions at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Pacifica came up short against La Habra and fell 9-4.
Jenna Valladares was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Cypress entered their tilt with El Modena on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Vanguards 8-2. The Centurions not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th (when they won 8-0).
Chach Stamper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cypress let Hayden Warner and Tia Hernandez run wild. Warner went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Hernandez went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Hernandez a new career-high. Kiyoko Saunders was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
Cypress kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Modena only managed six.
Pacifica's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Cypress, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pacifica hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Cypress struggles in that department as they've averaged .359. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
