Broomfield was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in 4A Mountain. The Eagles vanquished Littleton 51-0 earlier in the week.
Monarch suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 55-7 loss to Monarch. The Coyotes had been ranked 20th, but fell to 31 following the defeat.
Standley Lake's dynamic duo of Jacob Naranjo and Connor Durrant proved tough for Smoky Hill to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Naranjo threw for 95 yards and one touchdown and Durrant had 52 yards receiving. Matt Fujinami helped Standley Lake's passing attack out by catching three balls for 30 yards.
Ethan Marks was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 117 yards on 10 carries as Monarch lost to the Buffaloes. Philip Bubernak also contributed to the rushing game with 71 yards on the ground.
Alpoirtier Thompson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Montbello lost to Denver South. He completed seven passes for 60 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 90 yards. Thompson's favorite target this week was Marquille Jones, who caught four passes for 40 yards.
The Warriors' Thompson and Jones have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Thompson has thrown for 738 yards this season, while Jones, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 27 catches for 395 yards. The Coyotes' Marks leads the league in rushing yards with 507.
Broomfield took down the Lions 51-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Simean COMBS threw for 64 yards and one touchdown and ran for 16 yards in the win.
