Fillmore Central has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Gibbon Buffaloes at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Fillmore Central will be strutting in after a victory while Gibbon will be coming in after a defeat.
On Tuesday, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Fillmore Central made off with a 46-45 victory over Centennial. Given Fillmore Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Centennial is ranked 60th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fillmore Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jarin Tweedy out in front who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Carson Asche, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Gibbon lost to Centura on the road by a decisive 64-49 margin on Friday.
Fillmore Central's win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1. As for Gibbon, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Fillmore Central against Gibbon in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 58-28 victory. With Fillmore Central ahead 33-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
