The Shoemaker Wolves will venture away from home to take on the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shoemaker is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Shoemaker gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Bryan by a score of 12-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolves.
Kale Clawson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Aveolela Ropati was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Yanimarie Nieves was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Ropati wasn't the only one making solid contact: Shoemaker kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Copperas Cove posted their closest win since February 15th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Harker Heights 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldawgs in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.
Janell Gray made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brenna Butler, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Laila LaCapra, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Shoemaker's record is now 18-9-1. As for Copperas Cove, their record now sits at 13-7.
Shoemaker's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Wolves have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Copperas Cove, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Shoemaker continue to outrun the ball?
Shoemaker might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Copperas Cove in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
