Southwestern Michigan - West recap September 4, 2013
Lakeshore was the team made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in Southwestern Michigan - West. The Lancers defeated Marshall 56-14 earlier in the week.
Kalamazoo Central scaled the state rankings by moving to 381 from 422 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Maroon Giants were able to make move up by defeating Norrix 14-13.
St. Joseph's dynamic duo of A. J. Montoya and Terill Wilburn proved to be unstoppable against Coldwater, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Montoya threw for 73 yards and Wilburn had 44 yards receiving. Hamze Elkhozai helped St. Joseph's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 12 yards.
The Bears' dynamic duo of Montoya and Wilburn proved tough for the Cardinals to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Kyle Hedden was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 138 yards on 15 carries as Mattawan beat Coldwater. Alec Vandeweerd also contributed to the rushing game with 70 yards on the ground.
Hedden was a passing and rushing force as the Wildcats fell to Harper Creek.
Montoya put up the best numbers through the air as Gandalf Church's team bested Jeff Schorfhaar's team.
Wilburn was the best wideout in Southwestern Michigan - West this week as the Bears bested the Cardinals.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, St. Joseph's Montoya and Wilburn have proven to be a lethal combination. Montoya has thrown for 73 yards this season, while Wilburn has 2 catches for 44 yards. Hedden from Mattawan leads the league in rushing with 138 yards.
Portage Central took down Sturgis 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
