Stanhope Elmore has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Stanhope Elmore Mustangs and the Fairhope Pirates will round out the year against one another at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Stanhope Elmore suffered a rough 86-64 loss at the hands of JAG. While losing is never fun, Stanhope Elmore can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 270th, while JAG is ranked 22nd).
Meanwhile, after a string of 11 wins, Fairhope's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 67-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Glynn Academy.
Stanhope Elmore has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Fairhope, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2.
