The MacArthur Cardinals had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They pulled ahead with a 47-46 photo finish over Irving. For MacArthur, this counts as revenge for the 50-41 defeat Irving walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Arely Estrada, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 19 points and 2 assists. That's the first time this season that Estrada scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Alondra Villa, who scored 12 points along with five assists and two steals.
MacArthur's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-17. As for Irving, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 11-14.
MacArthur will take on Highland Park at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Highland Park presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than MacArthur in Texas (Highland Park is ranked 119th, while MacArthur is ranked 1049th). As for Irving, they will be playing at home against Berkner at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
