The Barnstable Red Hawks are taking a road trip to face off against Rising Tide at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Barnstable has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Rising Tide will come in with five straight wins.
Dartmouth hit Barnstable with a four-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Hawks fell 9-4 to the High School.
Madison Flynn put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off ten hits. That one earned run gave her a new career-low. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases.
In other batting news, Jazlyn Coyer made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. Charlotte Hadawar also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Rising Tide hadn't done well against Sturgis East recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Rising Tide had just enough and edged out Sturgis East 14-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Rising Tide has posted since April 30, 2025.
Like Barnstable, Rising Tide also got a great game from a two-way player: Alanna Flanders. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Flanders has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Amari Holley was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Emily Melby was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Rising Tide kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Barnstable's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8-1. As for Rising Tide, their record is now 5-0.
Barnstable couldn't quite get it done against Rising Tide in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 9-6. Can the Red Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
