After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oak Ridge, the Powell Panthers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Carter by a score of 58-49. That's another feather in the cap for Powell, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
When it comes to explaining why Carter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Marah Yeo. Despite the final result, she scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Yeo is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Tipton, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Powell now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Carter, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost 18 of their last 21 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-23 record this season.
Powell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Carter, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-43 loss vs. Grainger on the 10th.
