3A Big South recap Oct. 9, 2012
South Point extended the longest winning streak in 3A Big South this week by beating Forestview, 35-21. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Ashbrook led the league in scoring this week after putting up 44 points on Kings Mountain.
Kings Mountain's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mountaineers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jonathan Clark has thrown for 954 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Xavier Johnson has 21 catches for 359 yards. Dashan Guest leads the league in rushing with 554 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Big South this week will be when Crest takes on Huss. At the moment, the Chargers are in second, while the Huskies are in third.
North Gaston made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,576 from 8,322. The advance stemmed from a 43-36 victory over the Wildcats last week.
