The Grand Traverse Academy Mustangs lost against the Onekama Portagers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Grand Traverse Academy was beaten by Onekama 79-33. Grand Traverse Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Grand Traverse Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlie Dennis, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nate Dix, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Grand Traverse Academy dropped their record down to 1-17 with that defeat, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.1 points per game. As for Onekama, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grand Traverse Academy will take on Traverse City HomeSchool at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Traverse City HomeSchool has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Onekama, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Buckley at 7:00 p.m.
