Cascades recap Oct. 30, 2012
Grass Lake extended the longest winning streak in Cascades this week by beating Michigan Center, 35-14. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Warriors.
Manchester moved up to 178 from 225 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Flying Dutchmen were able to make move up by topping Clinton 37-36.
The Cardinals' dynamic duo of Dylan Zaborowski and Josh Padelt proved tough for Grass Lake to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Zaborowski threw for 171 yards and one touchdown and Padelt had 106 yards receiving. Tyler Holmes helped Michigan Center's passing attack out by catching two balls for 37 yards.
Frank Vuocolo was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 119 yards as Randy Cole's team fell to Randy Cole's team. Teammate Justin Wright added to the ground attack by rushing for 108 yards.
The Warriors' Logan Konopka and Jared Lazarz have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Cascades in both passing and receiving yards. Konopka has thrown for 1107 yards this season, while Lazarz, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 30 catches for 520 yards. Addison's Jared Bruner leads the league in rushing yards with 1213.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Manchester takes on Grass Lake. Wes Gall's team is in third place, while the Warriors are in first place.
The Flying Dutchmen and the Redskins played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Flying Dutchmen eventually emerging with a 37-36 victory.
