The Stevenson Pirates will head out to square off against the Carmel Padres at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Stevenson had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Greenfield on Friday. The Pirates put the hurt on the Bruins with a sharp 11-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Bruins: they've now won six in a row.
Nadia Patel made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Patel was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Sora Petrocelli and Maria Hall did most of the damage at the plate: Petrocelli got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Hall got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Hall has posted since back in April of 2025. Maddy Dalhamer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Stevenson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenfield only posted an OBP of .231.
Meanwhile, Carmel was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over King City. Considering the Padres have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Stevenson, Carmel also got a great game from a two-way player: Olivia Tringali. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Tringali was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lily Beals was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Houston, who went 2-for-4 with four runs and two RBI.
Stevenson's record now sits at 2-0. As for Carmel, their record is now 8-5.
Stevenson suffered a grim 12-4 defeat to Carmel in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
