After a string of seven wins, The Bowie Bears''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Austin. Bowie has struggled against Austin recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Austin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anakin Torres, who threw for 183 yards and a touchdown on only 12 passes. Andruw Andujo also helped out with an impressive 140 receiving yards.
Bowie's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Austin, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Bowie will be playing at home against Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Riverside is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Austin, they will challenge Irvin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Irvin comes in on a streak of failing to score more than ten points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
