On Friday, The Thoreau Hawks got themselves on the board against the Crownpoint Eagles, but the Crownpoint Eagles never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Eagles 50-0 on the road. The result was nothing new for Thoreau, who have now won three matches by 36 points or more so far this season.
Thoreau's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tys Nelson, who rushed for 51 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Ray Long also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Thoreau's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Isaac Woody and his two sacks.
Thoreau's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Crownpoint, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Thoreau does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Crownpoint is also done with their season.
