Stroudsburg is 0-7 against Emmaus since April of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Mountaineers are taking a road trip to square off against the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. Stroudsburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Stroudsburg proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by nine) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Northampton 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mountaineers have posted since April 26, 2024.
Jordan Cook spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Fagan-Huse, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katren Lavra, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Emmaus never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over East Stroudsburg South. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Emmaus got a massive performance out of Sydney Bennett, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Avery DeFanti was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Emmaus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.
Stroudsburg's record now sits at 5-1. As for Emmaus, their record is now 7-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Stroudsburg hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Emmaus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Stroudsburg might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Emmaus when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Mountaineers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
