The last time they met, South Bend were the 34-9 winner over Ocosta. This time around? They had no such luck. South Bend have to be aching after a bruising 14-41 loss to Ocosta on Friday. The state rankings had actually given South Bend a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
South Bend got a solid performance out of junior Chase Flynn, who rushed for 56 yards and 1 touchdown; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the victory. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Preston Lawhead, who racked up 12 tackles.
The defeat dropped South Bend's record to 1-2. The win bumped Ocosta's record up to 3-0.
South Bend will look to defend their home turf next week against Ilwaco at 7:00 PM. Ocosta are packing up and heading on the road for the first time this season. They face off against North Beach at 7:00 PM.
