The Lighthouse College Prep Academy Lions struggled with assists on Tuesday (the East Chicago Central Cardinals had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lighthouse College Prep Academy took a serious blow against East Chicago Central, falling 69-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lighthouse College Prep Academy has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Lighthouse College Prep Academy saw an underclassman step up: Derek Scott, Jr scored 18 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Scott, Jr scored a full 54.5% of Lighthouse College Prep Academy's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was DeQuan Jones, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
It was another big night for Dominique Murphy, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds for East Chicago Central. That makes it three consecutive games in which Murphy has scored at least 25% of East Chicago Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keontaye Bell, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Lighthouse College Prep Academy's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-5. As for East Chicago Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
Lighthouse College Prep Academy will head out on the road to face off against Harlan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Chicago Central will be home for the holidays to greet Merrillville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Merrillville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 271 points over their last four contests.
