Silver Creek and Branham are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Silver Creek Raiders will be playing at home against the Branham Bruins at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Silver Creek put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They put the hurt on Gilroy with a sharp 28-7 victory. 28 seems to be a good number for Silver Creek as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Silver Creek can attribute much of their success to Alonzo Hernandez, who rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown, and Gabriel Lim, who rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Austin Price got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Branham entered their tilt with Independence with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Branham took down Independence 52-38 on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
It was another big night for Elias Antillon, who rushed for 197 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 76 receiving yards. Antillon was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Jack Lewis was another key contributor, throwing for 156 yards and three touchdowns.
The win makes it two in a row for Silver Creek and bumps their season record up to 6-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Gilroy and 3-5 Pioneer. As for Branham, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2.
Silver Creek lost to Branham at home by a decisive 43-29 margin in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Thankfully for Silver Creek, William Augenstein (who rushed for 113 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
