Westover Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Amarvion Thompson, who shot 54% from the field on his way to 17 points and five assists. Thompson is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Tongue, who posted six points and five rebounds.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Westover Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've passed the ball that well.
Meanwhile, New Covenant lost to Liberty Christian at home by a 75-61 margin on Saturday. The contest marked the Gryphons' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Westover Christian Academy will need to focus on slowing down Rusty Hooks, one of several New Covenant players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5-for-11 to rack up 12 points along with five assists and five boards. Hooks is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last five games he's played. Cole Murdock was another key player, putting up 14 points and six rebounds.
Having lost for the first time this season, New Covenant fell to 5-1. As for Westover Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Westover Christian Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59 points per game. However, it's not like New Covenant struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 68.8 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
Westover Christian Academy took a serious blow against New Covenant in their previous matchup back in January, falling 64-36. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
