On Friday, the Syracuse Titans faced the Davis Darts in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Syracuse walked away with a 49-39 win over Davis. Winning may never get old, but Syracuse sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Syracuse was led to victory by Avery Sanders and Cortnie Barker. Sanders scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and five assists, while Barker scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maylee Anderson, who scored six points.
Several Darts players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kendra Kitchen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Kitchen has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was T'Maea Eteuati, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Syracuse's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Davis, their loss ended a 17-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Syracuse will take on Fremont at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Fremont will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Syracuse is ranked sixth). As for Davis, they will head out on the road to square off against Farmington at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Farmington: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Davis has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
