The Boone Braves waltzed into their match on Thursday with 11 straight wins but they left with 12. They took down Hagerty 49-33. Given Boone's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Hagerty is ranked 91st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Boone's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Danika Ballard led the charge by scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria DelaCruz, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Boone's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Hagerty, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-8.
Boone will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Timber Creek at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Boone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday. As for Hagerty, they will take on Winter Park at TBD on Monday. Winter Park will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Hagerty surely won't give up without a fight.
