The Metro Tech Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 60-51 to South Mountain. Metro Tech has struggled against South Mountain recently, as their game on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Metro Tech lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ace Zambrano, who scored nine points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Oswaldo Lopez Vargas, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Metro Tech's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-18. As for South Mountain, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Metro Tech will take on McClintock at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. McClintock presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Metro Tech in Arizona (McClintock is ranked 56th, while Metro Tech is ranked 321st). As for South Mountain, they will head out on the road to square off against Sierra Linda at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
