Section 6 B - West recap Oct. 3, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Tonawanda, who took down 370th ranked Amherst Central, 26-6.
The Warriors moved up to 450 from 504 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 6 B - West. Tonawanda was able to make the jump by beating the Tigers 26-6.
Lewiston-Porter's dynamic duo of Josh Daul and Bill Schiavitti proved tough for Maryvale to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Daul threw for 181 yards and four touchdowns and Schiavitti had 112 yards receiving. Dan Reagan helped Lewiston-Porter's passing attack out by catching three balls for 53 yards.
Mike Wawrzyniak was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 135 yards as the Flyers beat the Flyers. Teammate Taylor Jordan added to the ground attack by rushing for 56 yards.
On the ground, Maryvale's Wawrzyniak has rushed for 568 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Schiavitti. The Lewiston-Porter star has 14 catches for 371 yards.
The top two teams in Section 6 B - West will face off this week when first place Cheektowaga takes on second place Lewiston-Porter. Cheektowaga defeated Dunkirk last week, while Lewiston-Porter beat Jeffrey Buccieri's team.
There should be lots of points scored when Jon Hoover's team and the Warriors face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Lancers comes in having scored 175 this season, while Cheektowaga has scored 161. Lewiston-Porter scored 47 points last week as it topped the Flyers.
The Warriors extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Marauders, 44-26. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
