The Phillips Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 16th straight defeat. Their rough 66-46 loss to Winston County might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Phillips in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now lost four in a row.
Winston County found their leader in underclassman Lynleigh Cobb, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. Cobb hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for five straight games. Emma Kate Veal was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six assists.
Phillips' loss was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Winston County, their win bumped their record up to 11-16.
Phillips will head out on the road to square off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Colbert Heights comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Winston County, they will be playing at home against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sumiton Christian is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
