Arickaree has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Idalia Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Arickaree posted their biggest victory since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Lone Star with a sharp 54-32 win. Given Arickaree's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Lone Star is ranked 309th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for DILLON NOLETUBBY, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and six steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of AUSTIN WRIGHT, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Idalia came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Flagler at home to the tune of 65-27. With Idalia ahead 40-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Idalia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kale Morris led the charge by scoring 14 points along with two steals. Morris has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gabe Kechter, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Arickaree pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29 points. As for Idalia, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Arickaree have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Idalia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Arickaree might still be hurting after the 70-46 loss they got from Idalia in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Arickaree, Logan Breyer (who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
