Softball Recap: Boaz Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Boaz's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Columbia Central Lions a 6-0 shutout. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Grier Maples made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Bailey Lusk was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Ava Rhoden was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Boaz is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Columbia Central and nudges their season record down to 7-2.

Looking ahead, Boaz will venture away from home to square off against Etowah at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Columbia Central, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Columbia Central Lions face off against Wicksburg Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
