After flying high against the Laughlin Cougars on Friday, the Lake Mead Academy Eagles came back down to earth. Lake Mead Academy took a 74-59 bruising from Democracy Prep Agassi Campus on Saturday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lake Mead Academy in their matchups with Democracy Prep Agassi Campus: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Lake Mead Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gavin Cummins. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cummins has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Hardy, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Democracy Prep Agassi Campus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tai Coleman, who scored 20 points along with two steals. Josiah Stroughter was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Lake Mead Academy's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Mead Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Founders Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Democracy Prep Agassi Campus, Democracy Prep Agassi Campus and Moapa Valley will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
