The Ponderosa Mustangs suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 85-31 loss at the hands of Regis Jesuit. While losing is never fun, Ponderosa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while Regis Jesuit is ranked 13th).
Despite the defeat, Ponderosa saw an underclassman step up: Shae Heiden scored 11 points.
Regis Jesuit's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hana Belibi led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Belibi also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Jada Hodges, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Ponderosa and nudges their season record down to 4-10. As for Regis Jesuit, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ponderosa will take on Castle View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Regis Jesuit, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rock Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rock Canyon is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
