Eastern hasn't had much luck against Green recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Eastern is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Thursday. They lost 11-4 to Portsmouth West.
Eastern saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Stidham, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Braylon Beekman also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Green made easy work of East on Wednesday and carried off a 19-1 win. Considering the Bobcats have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Quincy Merrill made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Merrill was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Green let Blake Smith and Conner Blanton run wild. Smith went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Blanton went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Blanton has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Noah McMackin, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one run.
Green was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Green pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Eastern, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
