Air Academy put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Longmont Trojans as they made off with a 16-1 win. While the Kadets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Maeleigh Hunt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Hunt was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Keira Finkle was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylen Tucker-Flynn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run.
Air Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Longmont only posted an OBP of .300.
Air Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Longmont, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7-1.
Coincidentally, Air Academy and Longmont will both be playing Rocky Mountain the next time they take the field. The Kadets will head out to face the Lobos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Trojans will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
