Basketball Game Preview: Dilley Wolves vs. Lytle Pirates

Dilley is 0-10 against Lytle since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Dilley Wolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lytle Pirates at 6:00 p.m.

Dilley is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 23rd straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 79-42 loss at the hands of Poteet. The Wolves were down 65-33 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Angel Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Sambrano, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lytle beat Jourdanton 79-73 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Dilley better keep an eye on Chase Guevara. He was instrumental in Lytle's win, going 10 for 20 en route to 33 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The game was Guevara's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zacharee Perez, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 18 points and six boards.

Lytle smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive matchups.

Lytle has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 18-9 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.6 points. As for Dilley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-21.
