The Patapsco Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 79-33 loss at the hands of Pikesville. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Patapsco in their matchups with Pikesville: they've now lost seven in a row.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ania Evans, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Pikesville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mariah Jones-Bey led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 assists. Bree Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with three steals.
Patapsco dropped their record down to 3-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.8 points per game. As for Pikesville, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.
Patapsco will head out on the road to take on Dulaney at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Dulaney presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Patapsco in Maryland (Dulaney is ranked 51st, while Patapsco is ranked 200th). As for Pikesville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carver A&T at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Carver A&T focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Wednesday.
