Baseball Recap: Whites Creek Takes a Loss

The Whites Creek Cobras came up short against the Hampshire Hawks on Thursday and fell 12-8. The Cobras have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Marcus Ford made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Irvin, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Even though they lost, Whites Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .643. Their batting average was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .385 that Hampshire posted.

Whites Creek now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Hampshire, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whites Creek will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Stratford at 4:30 p.m. on April 7. As for Hampshire, they will face off against Fayetteville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
