The Gatewood Gators entered their tilt with the Augusta Prep Day Cavaliers with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Gatewood walked away with a 58-48 win over Augusta Prep Day on Monday. That's another feather in the cap for Gatewood, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Gatewood found their leader in underclassman Matt Allen, who scored 31 points. Allen is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 19 every time he's taken the court this season. Blake Callaway was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Gatewood is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season. As for Augusta Prep Day, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gatewood will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Westminster Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Gatewood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 21 matches -- so hopefully Westminster Christian Academy likes a good challenge. As for Augusta Prep Day, they will head out on the road to square off against Briarwood Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Briarwood Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday.
