The Westview Wolverines will venture away from home to face off against the Millard North Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Westview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Westview is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Creighton Prep, who was ranked 19th at the time (Westview was ranked 24th). The Wolverines fell just short of the Junior Jays by a score of 8-7 on Wednesday.
Kevin Rempe was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Boyd, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Millard North came out on top against Omaha North on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Mustangs never let the Vikings get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Brandon Berge looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Marcus Hankins, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Jackson Smith was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Millard North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha North only managed four hits.
Millard North's record is now 13-7. As for Westview, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.
Westview might still be hurting after the 15-3 loss they got from Millard North in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
