The Moffat Cowboys scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 56-35 margin over Antonito. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Moffat has managed all season.
Leading Moffat to victory were Sequoia Sirois and Kadence McWilliams. Sirois dropped a double-double on 18 points and 23 rebounds, while McWilliams dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which McWilliams has scored at least a third of Moffat's points. Another player making a difference was Shay Sidel, who scored six points along with two blocks.
Antonito's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Destanaya Quintana, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and three steals, and Luz Elena Parra who scored 17 points along with five steals. That was a full 48.6% of Antonito's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Moffat's win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7. As for Antonito, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moffat will take on Centennial at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Antonito, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Liberty Tree Academy at 5:00 p.m. Liberty Tree Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
